With the Noida International Airport slated to begin operations from November 2025, a need to push the regional mobility between Greater Noida and the greenfield airport in Jewar has been felt. For this, the Greater Noida authority, along with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial development Authority (YEIDA), has proposed constructing a 3-km road link to connect the city’s 130-m wide road with the 120-m wide Yamuna City road. 

Commuters travelling from Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad in the direction of the Airport Zone have long been witnessing traffic snarls as a result of a bottleneck, and once the airport becomes operational, the traffic movement is going to increase manifold in these belts. Recognising this, the officials have come up with the revival plan of the link road, the work on which had come to a standstill. 

Currently, the road runs between Char Murti Chowk and Sirsa Village, spanning over 30 km. A roughly 3-km patch to connect with the 120-m road of the Yamuna Authority that ultimately connects with Jewar, is still incomplete. Once ready, this stretch could ease pressure on the Yamuna E-way by rerouting incoming traffic from Greater Noida, Greater Noida West, and Ghaziabad.

“This road will boost connectivity and help commuters from Ghaziabad, Noida Extension and Noida to reach Noida International Airport through this new route once the 3-km stretch is built,” said Sumit Yadav (Additional CEO, Greater Noida Authority). “We will discuss this issue with the YEIDA and the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department to take this project to the next stage.” 

An official highlighted the gradual development of the surrounding region saying, ”We completed the 30-km stretch, but a portion remained unfinished due to pending land acquisition.” They further added, “Now, with the Noida International Airport nearing completion, we will soon acquire the remaining land and complete the link road.” This 3-km stretch is between Sirsa village roundabout on the 130-m road and Rampur Majra village on the 120-m road of the Yamuna E-way.

Planned Jewar Airport Connectivity Details

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to connect the aspirational Jewar International Airport with multiple highways in Delhi-NCR. The details of the planned infrastructural development are as follows:

• Delhi-Mumbai E-way to be connected to the Noida International Airport via Faridabad.
• The airport to be connected with Yamuna E-way in Dayanatpur Village in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar.
• KGP E-way (Eastern Peripheral E-way/ EPE) to be connected with the Airport at Mohna Village in Ballabhgarh.
• Noida Metro to be linked with the Airport through the Greater Noida route.
• Delhi Metro to be linked with the Airport via the Faridabad-Ballabgarh-Jewar route.
• The airport will get connectivity to Delhi via a Monorail Project.
• Two new expressways and a rail link to be constructed to connect Jewar Airport to Chola Railway Station in Bulandshahr.

As part of the proposed connectivity, the plans are also underway to build an underpass near Sirsa Village to make it easy for commuters to cross the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).

Additionally, the authority plans to build a rotary at the Ghangola roundabout, where the 130-metre road currently ends, officials were quoted as saying.

Once completed, this link road between two major corridors will reduce travel time, offer seamless connectivity, and support planned urban and industrial expansion in the surrounding belts. It is also crucial for establishing a direct, high-capacity link to the airport.
